What is Reader Insert Fiction?

Reader insert (also referred to as second person POV) is a style of writing where the main character is you.

Yes, you.

No, really. You. As in you, sitting there, reading these words.

Similar to RPG video and tabletop games, reader insert stories open up a whole new perspective on your own adventure. Choose Your Own Adventure novels are one example of this genre. Many romance fanfictions use this point of view. However, long-form original content reader inserts are sorely lacking in the commercial marketplace.

For those that say, “Yes, but I’m not sure I really want to be the woman in the slasher movie. You’ve seen how those end, right?”, we’ve got you covered. Afipia Felis can promise you three things about her stories:

  1. You will never die, be maimed, or be physically tortured.
  2. You will get your man (whether you want him or not).
  3. While your “reader” avatar may be given some relatable personality traits and an applicable back story, the character will remain race-neutral and as descriptionless as possible to allow for maximum immersion in the story.

No more pretending to be the garishly pretty, virginal, popular romance novel heroine.

Just be you and fall in love with the wrong man for all the right reasons.
